Hiking is a great sport that brings people together, that's why Southern California's renowned Modern Hiker blog grabbed the opportunity to rally its community to participate in Climb Up the 50. Rallying its many readers, blogger Casey Schreiner has planned an event that will bring hikers from across Southern California together to benefit African children with AIDS.

Team Modern Hiker will assemble to hike Los Angeles county's highest peak, Mount Baldy on Saturday July 3rd. While intended to be fun, the hike from Manker Flats to the summit of Mount Baldy will be strenuous; hikers will see an elevation gain of 4000 ft. to the summit at 10,000 ft. Regardless, hiking fans from across the southland will be coming together to celebrate their common interest while helping those in need.
