I'm a 30 year old breast-cancer survivor. To stay profoundly grateful for life and the love of family and friends is what is most important for me.

After my recovery, I tried to understand the true meaning of my life; I found the nature of my essence in mountains, in friendship and in love. I wake up every day searching for a new piece of joy and determination, and always cherishing every second of life.

This amazing project is really exciting and challenging for me: to arrive there in order to touch the very height. As you can see, I'm so very proud of my company for supporting this foundation. My experiences with mountains have always been profoundly meaningful as well as profoundly creative. I made a breast- cancer survivor documentary which I hope can help women to see the possibility as well as the reality of survival. I climbed the four biggest mountains in México (El Nevado de Toluca, La Malinche, El Iztaccihuatl and El Pico de Orizaba. The last one is the biggest mountain in all México. Please take a look at this video: www.unpasounacumbre.blogspot.com. It is in Spanish but the images are worth far more than words.

Please, join with me to raise $10,000 and help children trying to survive. The Nike team is going to walk every step for the cause. LET'S DO IT TOGETHER!

I grew up in the shadows of Mt. Hood, in a town called Hood River, Oregon. There wasn't a summer or winter that went by where I wasn't on the mountain skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking. After high school, I opted for a change of scenery and attended Northwestern University outside of Chicago, Illinois.

Upon graduation, I moved to San Francisco and worked in the music business. After a few years, I found my way back to Oregon to work for Nike. For the past 8 years, I have been fortunate to work with great people and athletes and have wonderful experiences, including obtaining my MBA from Stanford University. My wife and I spend our free time hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest and volunteering for SMART (Start Making a Reader Today).

I am so excited to be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Not only to raise money for a tremendous cause, but because my wife led a similar charity climb in 2007 and I am tired of hearing her brag about it!

As an employee of Nike Inc. it's hard not to want to give back to the community and the less fortunate. I have been involved with Portland Mountain Rescue for many years trying to help those folks who encounter unfortunate circumstances in the outdoors...I have also participated in Habitat for Humanity and various local charities and non-profits. With the success of the Nike Foundation and the Girl Effect, I have been drawn more and more to helping girls in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Combining my love for climbing and this amazing opportunity to help those most in need, this trip seems like a natural.

I’ve been working for Nike since 2002 and have held several different jobs in the IT division which have allowed me to meet many wonderful, vibrant people with whom I’ve forged lasting friendships.

My passion for climbing started in college and I’ve been fortunate to be healthy enough to pursue my interest ever since. I’ve climbed most of the Cascades volcanoes including Mount Hood and Mount Rainier several times, climbed the Grand Teton twice, and done some rock climbing in the Yosemite Valley. But I’ve never done an expedition to another continent.

I’ve been able to channel my enthusiasm for climbing into philanthropic endeavors as well. I’ve been volunteering for Portland Mountain Rescue for 6 years and am currently serving my second term as president. I’ve also done several climbing-related fundraisers for the Beaverton School District and American Lung Association, usually as a guide or team leader. This will be my first foray into the role of client/fundraiser and I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to raise money for such a noble cause.

I’ve been working for Nike since 2000 holding various positions in the retail marketing and brand management. Nike has given me the opportunity to meet athletes, travel all over Asia, and work with some incredible people from around the world.

My passion for the outdoors probably came from growing up on a farm here in Oregon and that passion led me to start climbing 7 years ago. I haven’t stopped since, bagging several Cascade Mountains including Hood and Mt. Olympus, which is probably my favorite accomplishment to date.

Climbing Kilimanjaro though will be the greatest adventure I’ve ever undertaken. It has been on the short list of big things to do in my life and I’m very excited to have the opportunity to climb this great peak while working to support such an amazing cause. Not only will this be my first peak over 14,000 feet, but this is also my first attempt at taking on a fundraising goal of such magnitude, in scale and importance.

This marks a very exciting time in my life.

I'm a native of Allenhurst, New Jersey where I grew up playing every sport imaginable. I fell in love with soccer and continued the sport through college at UNC Greensboro and eventually moved to the professional ranks. I've lived in most major East Coast cities including Boston, NYC, Raleigh and Atlanta.

After several years in Boston and another four in New York City, I was recruited by Nike and decided to make a big change – all the way to Portland, OR where I have been working as a global product lead. I have combined a lot of my interests: recruiting and retail, sports and fitness, into a rewarding career/life. I'm married to a wonderful woman, Sabrina, who is also from the East Coast, specifically West Grove, Pennsylvania. We moved out to Portland over three years ago from NYC and have absolutely enjoyed our time in the Pacific Northwest.

We enjoy snowboarding at Mt Hood, dining out at all the wonderful Portland restaurants, spending time with family and friends, hiking, golf, attending sporting events and concerts, wine tasting, and traveling. In addition, I am also a member of the Nike FC Swoosh Men’s Soccer club as well as a teammate of the Lagers Softball team…both teams help keep my work/life balance in check. I’m also an active volunteer for Big Brother and have been a “BIG” for over three years…which is very rewarding. I feel fortunate for every opportunity I have had and look forward to completing a life- long dream…climbing Mt Kilimanjaro.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, there is a rapture on the lonely shore, there is society, where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar:

I love not man the less, but Nature more."

` Lord Byron, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage

A couple of weeks ago my good friend Ben came to me saying he had the perfect challenge for us: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro while helping fighting AIDS in Africa. I didn't hesitate a second, for the love of sports and nature, to achieve an amazing physical challenge, and most of all to give a chance to the children of Africa.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

As a brand new employee to Nike (started in March 2010), I feel very proud to be a part of this team. I have a love of endurance sports (I have run 14 marathons and completed the Ironman Triathlon) but have not done a lot of climbing. However, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in 2001. I reached the summit successfully and found the experience to be truly amazing. The beauty of Africa and the grace of the people have held a special place in my heart ever since.

So, I could not pass up this opportunity to take part in this venture. When the team is climbing, I will be in Mombasa, Kenya working directly with the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. I will be doing a variety of work including interacting with the children and helping paint the facilities and going into the field with the team. I am humbled and inspired by the work of The American Foundation for Children with AIDS. I hope to make a difference and learn from my experience in Mombasa.

Please join me on this adventure by contributing:
